Description and Review
The 2019 Lexus GX is born to crawl through rocks and pass through mud. It offers a sufficient amount of space for many people and cargo and contains comfort features expected from a luxury model.
The Lexus GX 460 is an enormous SUV that seats seven people. Buyers will find all variations of a V8 motor paired with a six-speed automated transmission. Four-wheel drive is standard with option blind spot checking and rear cross-traffic alert.
Exterior
You can choose among the Base, Premium, and Luxury trims on the GX 460 which often has a tall nod to its truck roots. Its marque’s “spindle” grille sits between two large winged headlamps with chrome touches. Its conventional equipment consists of 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED daytime working lamps, running boards, roof rails, privacy glass as well as an impressive sunroof. Higher models feature LED fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a windshield de-icer, headlamp washers, and power-folding mirrors.

The Base trim bundles 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and daytime running lights, a sunroof, keyless access and start, leatherette upholstery, 10-way electricity front seats, memory settings, USB connectivity, reclining and sliding second-row seats and dual-zone weather control.
The Premium trim comes with higher-spec 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, a windshield-wiper de-icer, heated and cooled front seats, heated second-row outboard seats, and tri-zone local climate control together with a Navigation Bundle that features Lexus’ Enform app suite and an on-board navigation system. The Sport Design Package will come with gunmetal alloy wheels, sporty entrance and rear fascias, extraordinary taillights, leather upholstery, and an uncovered chrome exhaust tips.
The luxury trim comes with power-folding and dimming exterior mirrors, headlight washers, adaptive suspension, an auto-leveling rear air suspension, semi-aniline leather upholstery, a wood-and-leather heated steering wheel, and third-row power-folding seats. If you opt in for a Sport Design Package, you will a Mark Levinson surround-sound system with 17 speakers and 330 watts as well as second-row captain’s chairs which slice the number of seats down to six for more comfort and luxurious feel.

The GX 460 features a 4.6-liter V8 motor with 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, backed up by a 6-speed automated transmission. With fuel economy ratings of fifteen miles per gallon in the city and eighteen miles per gallon on highway. Fuel economy isn’t its strong suit. However, it glows with a regular full-time four-wheel-drive (4WD) system along with a limited-slip differential as well as a two-speed electronic transfer case. Crawl Control, which lets the SUV navigate between one and four mph in tough terrain, is optional. The Lexus GX 460’s towing abilities is at 6,500 lbs with trailer-sway system.
When driving the GX, it’s evident that Lexus favored functionality above flash. Despite of its enormous size which refrains it from being responsive, the Lexus GX is surprisingly spry for its size and corners very well.
back to menu ↑Technology
As anticipated with any luxurious brand, the Lexus GX is full of infotainment and security features. Standard features incorporate a nine-speaker sound system with a CD player, an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, High Definition Radio, Bluetooth compatibility, two USB ports, and Lexus’ Enform emergency and remote vehicle services platform. As noted above, an optional Navigation Bundle will feature Lexus’ Enform app suite and an on-board navigation system. The Sport Design Package will come with gunmetal alloy wheels, sporty entrance and rear fascias, extraordinary taillights, leather upholstery, and an uncovered chrome exhaust tips.
back to menu ↑Safety
Common safety features of a Lexus GX include rearview digicam. The Luxury model has the Driver Support Package which features adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automated braking, front-view and side-view cameras, a driver monitoring system and lane departure warning.
Even though the Lexus GX 460 is not as flashy or trendy as its competitors, being a midsize luxurious SUV, it is hard to beat the GX with respect to durability, reliability, quiet ride and ease of handling.
